Delta-9- Tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9-THC, THC)

∆9-THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis and is responsible for giving users the feeling of being “high.”

Delta-8- Tetrahydrocannabinol (∆8-THC)

Similar to ∆9-THC, ∆8-THC is typically found in lower concentrations and with slightly less psychotropic effects than its counterpart. When using the term “THC,” most refer to both ∆9-THC and ∆8-THC added together.

Delta-9- Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (∆9-THCA, THCA)

THCA is abundantly found in fresh marijuana and is the precursor of THC. As the plant is dried and exposed to heat, the THCA is converted into THC through a process called decarboxylation. THCA is non-psychoactive and has been found to possess neuroprotective properties, suppress seizures, and reduce inflammation.

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)

Generally only present at trace levels, THCV has been shown effective at suppressing appetite, reducing anxiety, and lowering blood sugar levels.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is the second most abundant compound in cannabis and has been found to counteract some of the psychological effects caused by THC. While CBD is non-psychoactive and cannot get users “high,” it is preferred in the medical community due to its innumerable therapeutic properties.

Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA)

CBDA is the precursor of CBD and has been found to possess anti-inflammatory properties.

Cannabidivarin (CBDV)

CBDV is a non-psychoactive compound that can be found at trace levels in certain cannabis strains. Recent research has demonstrated effectiveness in treating epilepsy and other neurological conditions.

Cannabinol (CBN)

CBN is a product of THC degradation and is known to have mild psychoactive effects. Contrary to the euphoric effects of THC, CBN can produce feelings of lethargy, making it the perfect aid for insomniacs.

Cannabigerol (CBG)

CBG is a non-psychoactive compound that has proven to be effective in reducing bacterial growth, inflammation, and intraocular pressure.

Cannabigerolic Acid (CBGA)

Often dubbed “the mother of all cannabinoids,” CBGA is the precursor of THCA, CBDA, and CBCA, which in turn are the precursors of every other cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. Although non-psychoactive, CBGA is believed to possess analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Cannabichromene (CBC)

CBC is a non-psychoactive compound that has proven to be effective in relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and inhibiting bacterial growth.
