Our History
Dr. Sylvan Eisenberg Our Founder Gets His Start in Food Testing
At the age of 23, Dr. Sylvan Eisenberg (PhD, Chemistry, Stanford U.) is hired by Lactol Corporation as a baking consultant. For the the next 5 years, Dr. Eisenberg travels the country, providing analytical and technical services to bakeries and restaurants.
Dr. Sylvan Eisenberg Anresco is Created
In his free time, Dr. Eisenberg develops proprietary equipment for applying adhesives to export packaging. In order to sell equipment to the navy to support the WWII war effort, he is told he must form a corporation. Dr. Eisenberg decides on the name Anresco – an acronym for Analysis, Research, Consulting.

Anresco relocates to half of a floor at 693 Minna Street, in San Francisco. The other half is a residence and the lower floor is a laundromat.

At an American Cereal Chemists Society meeting, Dr. Eisenberg develops the idea for Micro-Tracers – simple, easy to detect analytical tracers for use in animal feeds. He is able to raise $26,450 in “angel capital” to promote the idea.
Anresco 17 David Eisenberg joins Anresco & Micro-Tracers
After earning an MBA from Wharton (U of Pennsylvania) and working in private industry for 5 years, David Eisenberg joins his father, providing the business acumen to help it grow.
Anresco moves south to the Bayview Moving on Down
Anresco outgrows its venue and moves south to the Bayview area of San Francisco, known as”butchertown”. Being USDA-accredited, Anresco generates much new business from local meat packing companies.

After almost 4 years of construction, Anresco moves into 13,500 sq feet of brand new laboratory facilities, directly across the street from its former location.
