Japan MHLW Testing Requirements
Japan implemented extremely strict limits on THC content in hemp and CBD products starting December 12, 2024. Since, Anresco has been the leading laboratory performing Japan limit regulatory compliance testing and has routinely met with and had COAs accepted by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare (MHLW).
Our laboratory utilizes a state-of-the-art triple quadrupole LC/MS system, dedicated to Japanese compliance, ensuring unmatched accuracy in detecting THC and other banned cannabinoids in a variety of matrices (e.g. isolates, gummies, beverages).

Key Highlights of Our Approach:
- Recognized by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare: Anresco is among the few laboratories listed and approved by MHLW to perform compliance testing.
- Enhanced Testing Sensitivity: We set our default LOQs (Limits of Quantification) at half the MHLW action limits for each product category (Oil/Powder, Aqueous Solution, Other), ensuring an adequate buffer and improved precision and accuracy relative to other labs.
- Active Regulatory Advocacy: Through the ACIL Japan Working Group, we actively collaborate with MHLW to refine inspection protocols and propose sustainable regulatory improvements.
