Total Count provides an excellent nutrient base for general growth. This medium is used to determine total microbial count, without differentiation of microbial types. This medium may be used with regular or Tetrazolium-salt (T-salt) coated petri dishes. This medium used in conjunction with T-salt petri dishes will result in all bacterial colonies turning a red color, due to the reduction of the T-salt by the colonies. The red color makes counting easier for inexperienced users or when samples are very high in particulates. The function of the medium is unchanged when used with either type of petri dish. Total Count is also known as Aerobic Plate Count and Standard Plate Count. Must be used with Easygel® pretreated petri dishes (included).

EXPOSURE PLATES WITH EASYGEL PLATE COUNT AGAR & POTATO DEXTROSE AGAR
1. Pour the liquid on the treated petri dish.
2. Allow to solidify for approximately 30-40 minutes (cover with lid).
3. For air quality, remove lid and exposure surface for 15 minutes.
4. Replace lid and label sampling location.
5. Return to ANRESCO for incubation.
